  • Snippet Pixie: Next – Investigating and using upcoming changes to Wails v2 | Always Developing #160

A little dragon told me about some upcoming improvements to Wails v2 that I might find really nice to work with, so let’s check them out and try and apply them to the Svelte based Snippet Pixie desktop application.

I ran out of time before being able to take full advantage of the changes in Snippet Pixie, so stay tuned for a follow-up that completes the migration to use the new features of Wails v2.

  • Snippet Pixie: Next – Flex align-self ftw, show errors with native dialog | Always Developing #159

Took way longer than I should to stretch the no connection notice across the otherwise flex centered welcome screen. Then I get errors to display in native desktop dialog windows via the Wails MessageDialog runtime function.

  • Snippet Pixie: Next – Fixes galore, refactored lots in Go and Svelte | Always Developing #158

Quick overview of how I fixed everything up off-camera that was causing me problems in the previous session. Basically a massive refactor and use of go.mod files for each deliverable rather than a single global one.

Then I go on to get adding snippets from the GUI app working. 🎉

Following that, I implement checking that the daemon is up and running, create a new Screen svelte component that all screens sub-class from, show a notice when daemon not available, and disable the “Save” button in the Add Snippets screen as appropriate.

This was a long but productive session!

  • Snippet Pixie: Next – Failing miserably to refactor an internal Go pkg | Always Developing #157

So this one did not go well, I clearly need more coffee!

I tried to move some Go CLI code that implements an interface to an internal package so that the GUI can use it too. That kind of worked, but then I mucked about with the GUI’s go.mod file to try and fix dependencies, and that did not go to plan at all. 😞

I guess I need to read up on how dependencies are resolved in Go.
